WHO:

Phil Wiggins (Harmonica Teacher) and Michael Roach (Guitar Teacher)

Phil Wiggins, from Washington, DC. "He is a leading practitioner of the
east coast country blues style.
A great songwriter and harmonica Virtuoso, he forms half of the great
partnership, "Cephas and Wiggins".
In 1987 they won two WC Handy awards. For more details see:

Michael Roach sings and plays guitar in an East Coast style of blues
that dates back to the 1920s.
After spending several years learning directly from such well known
figures as John Jackson, John Cephas
and Jerry Ricks, Michael Roach has developed his own style and is now an
exceptional performer.
He has conducted workshops throughout the USA and Europe. For more

WHAT:

1000: Welcome and outline of day
1015: Split into two groups (Harmonica and Guitar) - get participants
objectives / assess ability
(all harp players should be able to play single notes and be able to
bend notes; all guitarists should be able to play basic chords).
1030: Beginner to intermediate Techniques
1230: Lunch (SHP do a few sandwiches - there are pubs and a McDonalds
within a short driving distance)
1330: Regroup and do some performance work - either in pairs or with a
teacher providing backing - round robin.
Teachers critique students performance, and provide guidance and advice.
1445: Group Piece (Students perform prepared piece ensemble - with solo
opportunities).
1510: Split back into two groups Q&A - your questions answered.
1530: Master Class - Intermediate to advance techniques.
1600: Acoustic Blues Jam in the Cellar Bar.

types are available (Blues Harmonica Workshop and Blues Guitar
Workshop), please buy a ticket for your primary instrument. This allows
us to track interest in each track. If you play both instruments and
wish to follow a mixed stream (e.g. Beginners Harmonica in the morning,
and Advanced Guitar in the afternoon, we will try and be flexible.
