Hi again,
There's a blues jam in my area that I'm planning on attending. I went there a week ago to check it out. It seems to be a guitar player oriented jam (now that's a surprise ! :) ) and since it's in a underground and small room, everyone plays through the PA. The guitar players have a full rack of effects to make up for the lack of real amp. As far as I'm concerned, I do not own nor do I wish to purchase (at least for now) some similar equipment (SansAmp or other pedals). Playing through a vocal mic could be an option but it might not fit their style very well (kind of heavy on the electric side). Also, considering that there might not be a vocal mic available what would be my best choice as far as harp mic to bring among the following (the mic would be plugged into the PA, I assume they have some sort of Hi Z input) ?
- - Shure 545 - - Shure 585 - - Bullets with vintage shure CM/CR elements - - Ruskin crystal - - EV606, 605 or 630
I would guess that the 585 would be a good bet although a little clean. Would you say that the 545, when plugged into a Hi Z PA input would sound comparable to a SM57 plugged in a low Z input (lot of folks seem to compare the 57 to 545 besides the Low/Hi Z difference). I played once through a 57 into a PA and like it. I would think that bullet mics wouldn't be a good bet for this case.
Given the fact that it's a jam, I probably won't be playing on many songs so I'd like to be prepared with the best setup for the job given what I have.
Thanks for your tips.
Xavier
