Subject: 15W 10" Laney

Just wanted to throw in some info about the 15 Watt Laney amplifier.
(10"speaker) This is not a business plug for Laney. I'm just a basement
harpster but think this might be an amp for others to try. A Laney tech told
me to sub 2 of the 3 EL84's with two 5751's. This cuts feedback a whole
bunch. I went on a 15W amp quest and tried the usual name brands including
the Fender Blues Junior. The Laney grabbed me right off the bat. I prefer a
545 Shure and a Danecho to use with it. I have jammed in a basement with a
loud band and the Laney with the 545 and Danecho is loud and clear in the
mix. MyShaker Dynamic wasn't loud enough but the 545 is a loud mike.
Really pushes the amp. Don't get me wrong, I don't care for LOUD but can be
played loud. Just for an experiment I put the two EL84's back in to check
for feedback
and was surprised to see how much better the 5751's are in the feedback
department. Took the EL84's right back out. No good. I just wanted to
mention the Laney because I never hear anyone mention it on the list. 200S
Astatic and Electro-voice also sound good with the Laney. Laney also makes
a 15WR but I needed to stay in the $200 some dollar range. The reverb
Laney cost more and I really prefer a tiny touch of delay anyway, hence the
Danecho. Ed, 70 miles east of Pittsburgh, PA
