Just wanted to give a public thank you to Dave Barrett and his associates, Dave and Kenya, from the Harmon- ica Masterclass Seminar group. I was fortunate to attend the NYC seminar this past weekend and it was a great learning experience. For those of you interested in instruction, I highly recommend a weekend seminar.
They covered a wide variety of topics including: theory, harp techniques, solo structure, song structure, band/jam ettiquette, and much, much more. I'm a novice, but I got the impression that all levels of harp players were very satisfied with the weekend and felt they had a lot to learn and learned a lot (the group was divided into beginner, in- termediate and advanced students).
For those of you looking for nuts and bolts, as opposed to a bunch of war stories, this is the place. Everything from which notes to use for soloing (and where and why) to one on one answers to questions like: hey Dave, am I doing this tremolo thing correctly (and yes I was, just need a LOT more practice).
Also, a nicer group of guys and gals (instructors and students), you won't meet anywhere. Thanks again for a great weekend.
