I have a habit of buying any mic I can get for $1.00 or less. (You never know.) This weekend I acquired a Labtec AM-22 mic for $1.00 at a flea market. It produces a very nice sound indeed with my Crate VC-508, with plenty of bass and lots of bark. Its output is much lower than my Electrovice MC300, requiring gain and volume controls to be cranked higher before feedback (which of course increases amp overdrive). It's similar in size to a Shure SM-57, but much lighter in weight due to all-plastic construction. It's equipped with 20 feet of cable, tipped with a 1/8" mono miniplug, so it requires a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter from Radio Shack to work with a guitar amp.
I see from a search on Google.com that this mic retails new for $10-$20 depending on vendor. At the low end, it's a good deal for a cheap blues mic, especially if your amp cranks out more power than you need. If you can score one for $1.00, of course, don't hesitate.
