I saw a local blues band last night, the Hill Brothers. Excellent and very tight. The harp work impeccable though limited to about 1 in 3 songs. I have been meaning to see these guys as it was rumored that he might give harp lessons (he teaches drums). I approached him at the break (complete with tequilla shots) and asked if he would consider giving lessons. I was disapointed when he said that he didn't. I asked him what his secret was and he said practice, practice and more practice. (afraid he'd say that) He told me to listen to records, those old guys knew what they were doing. He said any yahoo that can bend notes often jump up on stage but not many have that tasteful phrasing. (I thought oh shit am I a yahoo).
