I'm not sure whether my own PP eartraining has also had an effect on
the accuracy of my rhythm and tempo keeping, but I think to a certain
extent the emphasis on listening has actually had a positive effect
on
it I'm sure.

Just the other day I realized how easy it is for me to tell the tempo
differences between different recordings of the same piece. I'm
speaking of the classical genre of course. I can always tell minute
differences in tempo between different recordings. But, I'm by no
means a human metronome! My piano teacher used to have to point out
how I would emply rubato while playing Bach and that that was a no-
no! I'm just so used to playing mostly romantic works that I have
trouble keeping strict tempo. I always want to use rubato as a means
for expression which I know is a kind of crutch that I should probably
work on!
