Subject: chromatic harp for third position blues

Hoping for some insight here. I want to improve my third position
playing for blues. Other than a fuller-sounding chord tone, what is
the big advantage of using a chromatic for 3rd position playing? Is it
worth sacrificing note-bending for the slide capabilities? I am a big
fan of George Smith and really like some of Carey Bell's third position
playing (ie. " I Got to Go" on the Deep Down CD). Who plays a Chromatic
for 3rd and why?
