Hey Will,

Lst night I had a chance to listen to your Hastings
St. contribution at BluesHarp.org. Nice Job!

I'd always shied away from 4th position in
minor-key blues tunes, but you certainly made it
work nicely. I played it safe with my version of
Hastings St. and stuck to 3rd position.

I especially liked the chords you encorporated.
Hauntingly cool.

In fact, you inspired me. I sat at my piano this
morning and went after some blues in Gm using my Bb
harp... Hey! I found plenty of licks that fit
nicely and the changes weren't that tough to
follow! The IV chord goes to C, which is 3rd
position, and the V chord goes to D, which is 5th
position... not so rarified after all!

Glad to hear that you've been re-invigorated as a
player! Just wanted you to know that you helped
push me too! Like you, 4th position for me has been
rather weakish -- I only used it occasionally, and
never in a blues context. You showed me how it can
be used to very bluesy effect.

Thanks!
