Arthur "Peg Leg Sam" Jackson was born on this day in 1911. Jackson played in medicine shows and carnivals throughout the South from the 1920's until his death in the late 1970's. One favorite trick of his was to play two harmonicas at once, one with his mouth and one with his nose.
Jazz musician Big Clarence Miller was born on this day in 1922. In addition to singing and playing sax, Miller also doubled on the harmonica.
Blues harmonica ace Rod Piazza was born on this day in 1947. Piazza got much of his early training by working with George "Harmonica" Smith. Piazza now releases albums on a frequent basis and tours with his group, "The Mighty Flyers".
Harp-L-er Timothy Schutte was born on this day in 1948. Happy Birthday Tim!!!!
Vaudeville harmonica player Sam Scheckter died on this day in 1995. Sam played the chromatic and chord harmonicas with The Harmonica Harlequins and The Cappy Barra Harmonica Ensemble during the 1930's and 40's.
