Harmonica virtuoso Leo Diamond was born on this day in 1915. Diamond began his career in Vaudeville, working with The Harmonica Rascals, The Harmonica Solidaires and other harmonica bands. Diamond worked as a studio harmonica player after moving to California and recorded several albums of his own music.
Blues singer, guitar and harmonica player Weldon "Juke Boy" Bonner died on this day in 1978. He spent the better part of his career working as a one-man Blues band and managed to record about half a dozen albums of his own music. Rock singer, guitar and harmonica player Lowell George died on this day in 1979. George began his career playing harmonica duets with his brother. He would later go on to found the band Little Feat and you can hear him occasionally play the harmonica on some of their records.
